PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Jack Leonard
•    Just a reminder that our Annual meeting is Saturday, May 2nd at 6PM.  The meeting will be held in the Clubhouse with a presentation on tap by the Clubhouse Upgrade Committee.  This is a great opportunity to review the hard work of this committee and ask questions about the proposed project.
•    I would like to clarify a misconception.  Last year, we were researching the possibility of becoming a Village.  Based on the unsolicited information, provided by an elected official of Carroll County, there was a large sum of monies that would be available to the Association at no cost to our members.  There is no documentation available indicating this had ever been discussed in the community’s past history, and I will always look into any possibility to generate needed revenue for the community.  Of course, we found out that the information provided was horribly inaccurate and not worth pursuing.  Additionally, this would have never been pursued and implemented without an approving vote from the members of this community association.
•    I would like to remind everyone that there will be voting held at the clubhouse on Tues, May 5th with the local school renewal levy on the ballot.  I encourage everyone to make your voice heard and take the time to vote.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Dawn Oliver
•    1 Orientation was conducted during the past month.
I have noticed that the candidates running for positions on the board may not fully understand what a position, any position on the board truly means.  These positions should not be used for personal agendas or personal gain.  Anger and retaliation have no place on a Board.  At NO time should your position be taken for granted.  What is needed is an open mind and consideration for all sides of an issue. Remember you are a part of the solution, not part of the problem.  A seat is a privilege to fulfill and should be respected at all times by the person fulfilling that seat.  Again it is an HONOR to be seated on this Board and should be treated with RESPECT at all times during your short or long stay. Anything other than that would be an injustice to the Lake Mohawk Property Owners Association.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Rex Roseberry

Motion for approval of April Treasurer’s Report: Motion to Approve by Dawn Oliver, Seconded by Chuck Bush, Vote Count: 5 Board Members in favor, 2 Board members absent, 0 Board Members opposed, Motion Carried.

DIRECTOR OF ADMIN: Chuck Bush
•    As has been reported previously, we are currently evaluating an Access based system to replace the out-of-date DOS based membership program.  The timeline developed for this evaluation is being followed that, with successful testing, should allow for conversion to be complete on August 1st.  We had a meeting with Hal Dennis and Jeff Vansickle to discuss concerns and formulate a testing strategy.  They are working on some program updates based on that discussion.  The evaluation will continue when these updates are installed.
•    The receipt of annual dues packets are at approximately 90%.  The office is processing the packets as they are received.  The staff would like to thank everyone for following the checklist.  The number of packets with missing or wrong documentation was reduced this year compared to last year and significantly from the past years.
•    Additionally any dues payment received after May 1st will be subject to the late penalty of 24%.  Please make your payments before the end of April.
•    Just to remind you, the Board agreed to delay the change of the Gate Controller renewal this year.   With the office staff working on several other changes this Spring, it was not feasible to conduct the change efficiently at this time.  Gate controllers will be renewed in October.

DIRECTOR OF SECURITY:  Mel Carver
•    All of our gate guards do a great job and are dedicated to the safety and security of this community.  I would like to recognize and thank Helen, Eleanor, and Nancy for their combined approximately 63 years of service to this community.  Your years of dedication to this community have not gone unnoticed. “Thank you” and keep up the good work.
•    You may have seen two Deputies riding in the cruiser lately.  We have hired some new Deputies and they are riding with a full time Deputy for training purposes.  Also, you may have noticed sometimes we have two cruisers out.  This is because some of the new officers are volunteering on their own time to come out and work without getting paid.  This gives them a chance to work alone in the cruiser and provides a little comfort knowing that a full time officer is also on duty should they have a question.  Thank you for your time and eagerness to learn about this great community that we live in.
•    We received information that on Easter Sunday there was person on a jet ski running circles around and chasing the swans on our lake.  This is a Federal offense and if you are caught there will be no questions asked. You WILL be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest.  If you have any information concerning this matter please contact Sgt. Tokash or Deputy John Lewis.
•    Please remember to report any and all suspicious activity to our Deputies so it can be investigated.
•    To Scott Moushey “A BIG THANK YOU”  Thanks for the years of service to this community. Your knowledge of the water and fish have been extremely helpful.  If you see Scott, be sure to stop and say thanks for giving your time and service to this lake.

LAKE MANAGER: Scott Noble
•    The Road Moratorium for contractor vehicles has been lifted effective April 16th through December 1, 2009.
•    As the weather improves, it is now time to begin the clean-up of your property. Inspections usually begin around the mid-May timeframe. Please review the Property Maintenance Code for compliance.
•    Members of the Fisheries / Weed Harvesting Committee have met with several potential vendors to discuss weed and aquatic management of the lake. Through these meetings, Joe Jacko, Eric Howland and I have discussed several options that would reduce the use of chemicals and still maintain the lake for all recreational use. I believe the three of us would all agree that this has truly been a good education and understanding of the lake ecosystem and we will present our findings to the Board of Directors very soon. My thanks to Joe and Eric for the time they have devoted to this endeavor.
•    The Association purchased and stocked additional fish this spring. Redear Sunfish (shell crackers) and Black Crappie were added to the lake. Hopefully, we can allow the Redear Sunfish to mature a help naturally control the snail population – a major factor with Swimmer’s Itch, which has occurred the past two seasons.
•    I would also like to thank Dave Chisholm, Paul Sack, Hal Dennis and Bill Wolf for serving as our Constitution Committee. We had one proposed Constitution change for them to conduct a review. As always, we can certainly count on you guys for a very thorough job.
•    This year’s ballot, which will determine your Board of Directors, will be mailed very soon after the Annual meeting to all members in good standing. We encourage everyone to cast your vote.
•    The Financial Audit of the 2008/2009 financial statements is scheduled for May 18th and 19th. We will keep you abreast of any status and when to final report is available.

NEW BUISNESS:  Motion: To approve or disapprove a request to construct a detached garage on lot 554, larger than allowable, under the guidelines of the Lake Mohawk Building Code.  Motion to Approve by Chuck Bush, Seconded by Dawn Oliver, Vote Count: 3 Board Members in favor, 2 Board members absent, 2 Board Members opposed, Motion Carried.

ADJOURNMENT – 7:20PM with 8 property owners signed in.

OPEN FORUM:
Lot:  55 – Just wanted everyone to know that the weekend after Memorial Day weekend, we will start to collect for the Fireworks.  Please volunteer. We will start with the weekends first in 2 hour increments, Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Then do weekdays, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, as we get closer to the date.  We will start with the Main Gate, then go to the Lace Rd. and Keno Rd. gates.  I would like to say that I am running for the Secretary position.

Lot 1530 -  It’s been 3 years that we have had the Snack Shop open and would like to have the docks at the main beach extended so that we can park away from the rocks, This will allow us to truly utilize the snack shop.  (Scott Noble said the docks were moved out 3 ft. last year for that reason.  They can’t extend the docks any longer because they need to be into the ground and can’t get the backhoe out that long without sinking into the water and the pylons need to be driving down very deep to sustain the movement in that area. He will have the guys look into some way of putting a longer dock on the existing posts that are already there.)
